The Secret of Pont-Saint-Esprit

A 65-year-old mystery was finally solved by investigative journalists. In 1951, almost the entire population of the town of Pont-Saint-Esprit in Southern France were driven to mass hysteria and insanity, hallucinations and suicide. [1] [2] A great many people died and dozens were put into strait jackets and sent to mental asylums, in one of the world’s most bizarre mysteries. Many people tried to fly out of windows or from roofs of buildings. One man shouted “I am a plane” before jumping out of a second-floor window and breaking his legs. One man tried to drown himself, screaming that his belly was being eaten by snakes. An 11-year-old boy tried to strangle his grandmother. Another saw his heart escaping through his feet and begged a doctor to put it back. Time magazine wrote at the time: “Among the stricken, delirium rose: patients thrashed wildly on their beds, screaming that red flowers were blossoming from their bodies, that their heads had turned to molten lead”. In the end, most everyone either died or was committed to a mental institution. For decades it was assumed that the local bread had been unwittingly poisoned with a psychedelic compound, speculating that the largest local baker had unwittingly contaminated his flour with ergot, a hallucinogenic mold that sometimes infects rye grain. But a journalist uncovered evidence that the tragic event resulted from a covert experiment by the CIA and the US Army’s top-secret Special Operations Division, where CIA operatives peppered local food with massive amounts of LSD as part of a mind control experiment.

For Pont St. Esprit, the CIA sent scientists from Sandoz, the supplier of the LSD, to concoct a plausible story as to the cause. The CIA concocted and executed many such plans to infect many locations both in the US and in foreign countries with a wide variety of pathogens. The journalist referred to above, was investigating the death of Frank Olson, the CIA biochemist we have already met, and discovered transcripts of a conversation between a CIA agent and a Sandoz pharmaceutical official who mentioned the “secret of Pont-Saint-Esprit”, explaining that it was not caused by mold but by LSD. Two colleagues of Olson further confirmed that that the Pont-Saint-Esprit incident was part of a mind control experiment run by the CIA and US army, having sprayed LSD into the air throughout the town as well as contaminating local bread and other food products. The final proof was in a White House document sent to members of the Rockefeller Commission during its investigation of CIA abuses. The document contained the names of those employed by the CIA for this job, and made direct reference to the “Pont St. Esprit incident”, and the culprit was of course none other than Sidney Gottlieb, the Jewish head of the horrendous MK-ULTRA Project.

By 1950 the US military and CIA (under Sidney Gottlieb) had already produced well-developed plans to ‘outsource’ the field testing of various pathogens to other nations, friend and enemy alike, with much of the surreptitious testing of LSD and other hallucinogens conducted in Europe and Asia under the code names of “Project Third Chance” and “Project Derby Hat”. The first Project was targeting countries in Europe while the second was directed at Asia but China in particular. You may care to read “Operation Delerium” by the New Yorker Magazine. [3]

China’s Pork Speculators

The pathogen was distributed with small drones flying over countless thousands of farms while spraying something.

In 2019 and 2020, right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, China was hit almost simultaneously with several biological attacks, one being a nation-wide wave of deadly swine flu, necessitating the culling of several hundred million pigs – China’s main meat source. The pathogen was distributed with small drones flying over countless thousands of farms while spraying something. All of the Western media, including Hong Kong in this instance, flooded their pages with claims that ‘pork speculators’ were responsible for this. This must have been a well-organised effort since there were countless thousands of these drones reported. One large farm was so inundated with these drones that the owner set up a jamming system to upset their navigation systems. In this case, he had to desist because his jamming systems were interfering with aircraft landings at a nearby airport. [4] [5]

Let’s ignore the media claims for a moment and try to apply some logic. First, many laboratories in many countries research such pathogens as swine flu, but the amounts necessary for research typically are a cupful. The volume of pathogen necessary to infect and\or kill 300 million pigs would be at least tens of thousands of liters. Where would our ‘pork speculators’ obtain such a volume of a deadly pathogen? The nearest 7-11? Wal-Mart? The only source of any pathogen in that volume would be a military bio-weapons lab where it was created for use. There is no evidence that China has any such labs but for the moment let’s assume they do have. How would the pork speculators gain access to it? What do you suppose would happen if you and I went to such a military installation and said, “Good morning. We would like to buy 5,000 liters of anthrax, please.” Exactly. And if the Chinese did have such a facility, they would be unlikely to supply people wanting to kill most or all of their own country’s meat supply.

Perhaps more to the point, in any country, WHO would have access to these facilities and the pathogens contained therein? Only agencies of that government. Nobody else. Logic permits us to dismiss the possibility of the pathogen arising from a Chinese facility, so what would be the source? We don’t have a smoking gun, but China and Russia are surrounded by about 100 American military bio-weapons labs. There is no other likely source, and no other country with a likely motive or with ample experience in this area, which means the swine flu epidemic in China was almost certainly a US biological weapons attack. And the media flood about “pork speculators” was merely propaganda meant to pre-empt rational thought on the part of readers.

But according to the New York Times, it was all China’s fault. According to an article ostensibly written by a Mr. Yanzhong Huang, self-styled as “a global-health expert specializing in China”, Swine fever devastated China’s stock “because with unsound governance, even sound regulations have perverse effects”. [6] Mr. Huang did not elaborate on how an American bio-weapons attack with small drones would constitute “unsound governance” on the part of China, but then this is the New York Times we are reading. Worthy of note is that two years prior, Russia was hit with an outbreak of the same pathogen, the first time such a thing had ever occurred in the Southern Caucasus region, and the Russians apparently had much circumstantial evidence that this pathogen was released from the Lugar US biological warfare lab in GeorgiaYou can reference my prior series of articles on The World of Biological Weapons for more detail.

Michael Hastings was 33 years old, an award-winning journalist and an accomplished war correspondent and political reporter, perhaps best known for writing a critical profile in the Rolling Stone magazine about US General Stanley McChrystal that led to McChrystal’s resignation. He was apparently working on another important story that involved yet another major US military figure, General David Petraeus of Iraq fame, and that implicated both the US Department of Defense and the FBI. Hastings wrote about being approached by one of Gen. McChrystal’s aides who told him “We’ll hunt you down and kill you if we don’t like what you write”. Just before his death in July 2013, Hastings sent an SMS message to several friends, saying “the FEDS” were watching him and contacting his friends and associates, and that he was onto a big story and needed to disappear “under the radar for a while“. He died a few hours later when his Mercedes, traveling at high speeds, smashed into a tree and caught fire.

Both police and reporters claimed there were no skid marks, the police claiming the car simply left the road and drove into a tree at high speed, and caught fire. But when the fire abated, the police immediately covered the entire car with a white sheet, which is something I have never seen before. And news reports now claim that both police and firemen who were on the scene have been ordered to not discuss the matter with anyone, under any circumstances. Mercedes claims its car could never have burned naturally in the manner in which it did, and that there was no way the accident could have caused the engine to fly 60 meters from the car in the direction it did, which suggests both an explosion and incendiary materials. Also, a man named Jose Rubalcava who witnessed the entire crash, said he saw sparks coming out of Hastings’ car before it hit the tree and that it was traveling at very high speed, and had repeated explosions after the collisionRichard Clarke, the counterterrorism chief under both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, told the Huffington Post that Hastings’s crash looked “consistent with a car cyber-attack”. You can read all the details in Police State America, Volume Two. [7]

To add to the mystery, auto technicians have claimed that a car can easily be remotely controlled and/or sabotaged by on-board software, and that it would technically be quite easy to have accomplished Hastings’ accident. In the August 12, 2013 issue of Forbes Magazine, in an article titled “Hackers Reveal Nasty New Car Attacks”, Forbes staff writer Andy Greenberg took readers through a tour of the vulnerabilities lurking in the electronics of today’s automobiles. [8]

Greenberg tells us that as he drove a vehicle for more than an hour, Miller and Valasek demonstrated that they had reverse-engineered enough auto software to deliver a wide range of nasty surprises – with Greenberg at the wheel. They could sound the horn, or slam on the brakes at high speed. They could kill both the brakes and the power steering. They could make the GPS, the speedometer and odometer, wildly inaccurate. They could violently jerk the steering wheel at any speed, sufficient to send a car into a head-on collision, or off the road into – a tree. Their focus, and that of the Pentagon, is hacking vehicles physically and also by remote wireless devices. Security analyst Richard Clarke said it was easily possible for the authorities to have hacked into Hastings’ 2013 Mercedes C250 control system, and that such an attack would be almost impossible to trace. He said the evidence available publicly is consistent with a cyber-attack, but the problem is that it can’t be proven.

There is one element regarding General Motors (and, by extension, all Western auto manufacturers, including Tesla) that I find disturbing, this being GM’s recent infatuation with Israel and the establishment of various R&D centers in that country. [9] The simple fact of doing R&D in Israel is more or less irrelevant, and Israel may well be a useful location for such an enterprise. The portion of this I find disturbing is that, while the language appears to be cleverly couched in neutral terms, my conclusion on reading the releases and media articles was that this R&D appears to relate primarily to electronic remote control of automobiles, the very same program of such great interest to the FBI and CIA in the US to contain public protests and dissension and quite possibly to create plausible examples of “death by auto accident”, of which we have already seen several. The articles referred to the development of “alternative driving systems”, “vehicle electronics and communications systems”, and various other kinds of “advanced technology”, none of which appeared related in any sense to automotive development as such, but rather to remote electronic control.

GM’s vice president of global research and development, Alan Taub, spoke of this being “the first true scientific research laboratory” for automotive “Operations and Administration”, and to tap that country’s brightest minds in a way similar to the US military outsourcing weapons research to universities around the world. He spoke of using remote technology in the march to … “in some cases, intervention”, i.e. authorities learning to control vehicles remotely, using sensors to determine the surroundings. He repeated Google’s barely credible references to self-drive cars as being for safety – but also available for remote control. In his words, “They use the exact same technology”. I don’t find that comforting. Taub also spoke of one such auto jointly designed by GM and Carnegie-Mellon University that won the Urban Challenge event sponsored by the US Department of Defense. Anyone who believes there is no military or civilian control agenda behind these research efforts, is truly asleep. Taub also noted that Israel has a huge amount of human talent in precisely the fields required by GM, and this very much includes electronic espionage for which the Israelis are famous. One GM source, Gil Golan, GM’s Israel site director, specified that GM will focus on “advanced sensing, wireless enabling, allowing a vehicle’s systems to use networks to ensure constant communication … and vehicle control (by whom?) … for driverless navigation”, with or without the driver’s permission, no doubt.

The FBI have been intensely interested in such remote control for the purpose of controlling public protests. Their vision, which is very possible with today’s technology, is to disable every automobile in an area where protestors plan to gather. The issue is not only GM’s designing the means for American authorities to control dissent by rendering autos inoperable in the US, but of inserting that technology into GM cars in China, thereby providing US authorities with the same opportunity in China, yet one more weapon in their “full-spectrum dominance” for warfare. If I want to declare war on your country, the ability to disable every foreign motor vehicle on your streets, would be useful, no? It is of special concern that both GM and Tesla (and likely many others) are using the Jewish Mobileye programming [10] for their “self-drive” cars, because this technology is designed to permit “remote control” by anyone who possesses the underlying technology – meaning Western authorities and espionage agencies. Further, the Jewish News boasts that Mobileye is forming partnerships, for both R&D and for manufacturing, with Intel, whose processors control virtually all computers in the world today. [11] The prospects from this are not comforting. This technology could potentially give Intel (as an agency of the US government) the power to shut down all computers in Russia or China in preparation for war.

Before you dismiss this too quickly as yet another conspiracy theory, the Times of Israel carried articles in June of 2015 revealing that Hyundai of South Korea is interested in precisely these things and is taking substantial initiatives to obtain results, apparently intending to become a leader in this field. It is worthy of note that Hyundai’s first step is to conduct a national computer hacking contest in Israel, in the hopes of identifying the top such talents who will then receive research contracts with the company. The winners will be selected on the basis of “creativity” and how they use the Internet and other “connected technologies” including Bluetooth and GPS to “affect the driving experience”. Use your imagination. What does that mean, ‘using creativity and connected technologies to affect the driving experience’? The article stated that Hyundai was creating a “built-in cellular modem” that will connect with a car and “its APPS” and, of course, with all the vehicle’s controls. The article stated Hyundai’s auto communications would permit the company to “implement numerous long-distance features”, exampled by drivers being able to call for help – which they can easily do without Hyundai’s help – or where “other parties could connect” to the car.

Think about that. What does that mean, “using communications to implement long-distance features where “other parties” can connect to your car”. The article noted that security was a concern, quoting studies by the US Senate and other proving hackers can easily take control of key vehicle components remotely, stressing that Hyundai “has gone to great lengths” to ensure that no one but them will be able to intrude. Exactly: ensuring that ‘no one but them’ would be able to take control of a vehicle. Apparently Jewish security experts have considerable experience in this precise field, the article specifying that these experts have worked on “closed operating systems” for “Jewish phones”. In other words, protecting themselves first from others doing to them what they propose to do to others.

Anatomy of a Yemen Bomb Scare

This was one of the most delightful little conspiracy theories I’ve seen in years. I wasn’t the only one who noticed all the inconsistencies; many writers had great fun with this one. The story was about explosive packages from Yemen being sent by UPS to Jewish Synagogues in the USA, and this was a scam if I ever saw one, with a story has changed a dozen times overnight. [12] [13]

In the first media version, this wasn’t actually a bomb. It was what is called a “dry run”, a test to see if something will work as planned. So, since the terrorists planned to send some bombs inserted into an H-P printer cartridge, they apparently first thought to just send an empty cartridge to the Jewish synagogues to see if they would be delivered. The bombs would come later. Thus, the media first treated us with a photo of an H-P printer cartridge, but this sparked no interest at all. So secondly, they published photos of a printer cartridge with “a couple of wires sticking out”. No public response, so then they treated us to some photos of a printer cartridge with some “white powder” on it. The powder was quickly identified by the media as the explosive PETN, but later experts who were not yet fully informed, told the media that the powder was “not actually confirmed” as anything. However, still no public response, or even interest.

Our conspiracy masters then changed course, and produced not only a toner cartridge but a printed circuit board. Unfortunately, the board was larger than the toner cartridge, and not connected to anything, and gave no impression it could be made into a bomb or into anything else of use. But our protagonists wouldn’t quit; they then provided us with photos of a toner cartridge, a circuit board, and other additional pieces – all still unconnected to anything. I think we call this a “work in progress”.

So, first we have no bomb but just a “suspicious package”, but NO explosives. However, soon after we have this “white powder” which could (maybe) be used to ‘detonate’ something unspecified. But the traces of white powder (which looked like talcum powder) didn’t seem frightening enough, so we were then treated to various photos of a toner cartridge with varying amounts of talcum powder on it, from only a few grams to kilograms of the stuff. In the meantime, the narrative progressed from a dry run, to  maybe something containing “explosive powder”, then to “a real bomb’, then more explosives, then some “really powerful” explosives, and then the “really powerful explosives” connected to a mobile phone, produced by someone who “clearly has a fair amount of training and experience.” But it didn’t stop there. We went from a simple toner cartridge to one with wires sticking out, to one with white powder, then more white powder, then huge amounts of white powder, then to a circuit board with the cartridge, then to photos with a huge amount of paraphernalia in them, then to an entire H-P printer in a small box, then to a huge box with not only a printer, but books and clothing and all sorts of things in it.

First, just a cartridge, then a cartridge with some white powder, then the same cartridge with a huge amount of white powder. The story improved each time. Source

We began with only a toner cartridge, but the “terrorist plot” soon included an entire printer plus the internal assembly of a printer – which not surprisingly includes a circuit board. Source

Then, we have a completely different circuit board, this one purporting to hold a timer that would explode the airplane in either Germany or the UK or the US or Canada. Source

First, we have a scruffy box – which we would expect from Yemen – containing only a printer cartridge, that suddenly transforms into a new carton containing an entire printer, clothing, books and more. The story just keeps improving. Source

Unfortunately, one of the problems with the story was that the mobile phone was meant to be used to detonate the package, but few mobile phones have the range to reach a Jewish synagogue in Chicago to detonate the bomb from Yemen. So, then the story changed and the mobile phone was meant to be used to detonate the “really powerful explosives” at some time during the flight. Well, maybe, but there aren’t many mobile phone signals at 35,000 feet, especially between Yemen and the US. And besides, the terrorist packed the phone with the ‘really dangerous bomb‘, so there was no likely way to detonate it.

So, then the story changed again, and this time the toner cartridge was set to explode “in only minutes” in either Dubai or Germany or the UK or the US, depending on which newspaper you were reading. It now appears that the mobile phone served no purpose and there must have been a timer in the toner cartridge but, if you are sending a package from Yemen to the US, especially by bus, you have no way of knowing how to set the timer. Nevertheless, everyone, including the UK Prime Minister, told the world solemnly that the package was “only 17 minutes from exploding” when they found it. [14] [15] [16]

Then we had a French government official telling us they found the ‘bomb’ in France when it was only 15 minutes from ‘being detonated’, even though the UPS aircraft apparently didn’t stop in France. But then from the other side of the Atlantic, US officials said there was no confirmation of a detonation time, nor was there any evidence that the ‘bomb’ could have been detonated at all. The Europeans then altered their claim to say that the bombs could have detonated over the Eastern US, [17] [18] and then claims from the US that the bomb could instead have detonated over Canada. But they were absolutely sure that “at least one bomb would have exploded somewhere”[19]

It was of course devastating to UPS to discover that one of their cargo aircraft would have been used by Al-Qaida to ship bombs that were going to explode Jewish synagogues in the US. They then did the only sensible thing, which was to immediately cancel all their flights from Yemen to Europe and the US. But that apparently was no hardship because, as the President of Yemen himself confirmed, UPS had no flights out of Yemen and hadn’t had for many years. Still, it’s the good intentions that are important in a case like this. But that left a hole in the story: how did the bombs get from Yemen to Dubai to Germany and to the UK, on their way to the US? No problem. It was then discovered that the package with the H-P toner bomb was actually put on a bus from Yemen to Germany. I’m not certain how long a bus trip that would be, but I’m guessing about seven weeks, which leaves us with a problem about not only mobile phone signals but about setting the timer to blow up in a Jewish synagogue in Chicago.

There were more problems too. A young woman named Ms. Hanan al-Samawi[20] a computer and engineering student in Sana’a, was identified by the US intelligence agencies – and by the Dubai government – as the person who had put the package containing the bomb onto the UPS flight which was actually a bus. The original story was that “a woman who claimed her name was Hanan al-Samawi, a 22-year-old engineering student, walked into the U.P.S. office in the upscale Hadda neighborhood of Sana’a, Yemen’s sprawling capital city. She displayed a photocopied identification card, and dropped off a bomb hidden inside a printer cartridge with a Chicago address listed as the package’s destination. A few blocks away, another package concealing a homemade bomb was dropped off at a FedEx office, also seemingly headed to Chicago.” [21]

Sana’a University, where Hanan al-Samawi was studying. Source

We are told the young woman was arrested along with her mother, and this was confirmed by then-US President Obama himself. [22] But this didn’t work either. The Yemeni police apparently spoke to Ms. Samawi and released her because they said there was nothing to connect her to anything. But our conspiracy masters didn’t give up so easily. They confirmed, upon investigation, that “Ms. Samawi’s identity had been stolen” by the real terrorists, [23] and that she was not the same woman who dropped off the packages.” This was also personally confirmed by President Obama himself.

An additional problem arose when the United States Postal Service, who obviously had not been briefed in advance, confirmed to reporters that the delivery address on the packages did not exist and that there was no such Jewish synagogue in Chicago. So, no anti-Jewish plot after all – but a good way to permit Jews to be a “victim” of something one more time. Just covering all the bases.

But our conspiracy masters ignored the inconsistencies in their little tale and solemnly announced that there is “no reason to assume we have the whole plot”, so we must institute more security inspections. And on, and on, and on. This is what the CIA calls “background noise” – to raise the fear level in order to justify the curtailment of yet more freedoms and to continue the all-important “WAR ON TERROR!!!” And only two weeks earlier, we had the British, French and Germans seriously angry with the Americans for initiating an international “terror alert”, apparently for no cause, but just to get the Europeans’ attention so the US could more easily impose additional ‘screening techniques’ and information gathering from Europe.

My first thought was that this ‘false flag’ episode had Jewish Israeli fingerprints all over it, but they don’t usually bungle a job as badly as this one, and that leaves us with only with the CIA as our prime suspect.

US President Obama was Deeply Involved

“Suspicious packages discovered in Dubai and England in air cargo shipments to the U.S. contained explosive materials and appeared headed for Jewish places of worship in Chicago, President Obama confirmed. President Obama, confirming that authorities had uncovered a “credible terrorist threat,” spoke shortly after military jets escorted a passenger jet from the United Arab Emirates to New York’s JFK airport as a precautionary measure because it was carrying a package from Yemen. Two UPS trucks in Brooklyn and Queens, N.Y., were also investigated and cleared, officials said. Law enforcement officials also are investigating a suspicious package in Portland, Maine. No word on whether that package has any links to UPS or Yemen. [24] The German newspaper der Spiegel followed suit: Barack Obama speaks of a “credible terrorist threat” against his country: Two suspicious packages found aviators in American Freight, have been included according to the US President.” [25]

And, as noted above, Obama himself confirmed that the young woman had been arrested, and he also confirmed that the poor girl’s identity had been stolen. That lends much credibility to an otherwise foolish story, don’t you think? I mean, if the President of the US becomes involved, this must be very big and serious.

The Media

Everyone got into the act to help embellish the story. Source

Some writers had a lot of fun with this. [26] “Intelligence officials and government officials and generic officials say the Airmail Bomb deal has all the earmarks of an al-Qaeda plot but al-Qaeda might not be involved at all. Whoever mailed the “bombs that might not be bombs” was probably trying to target synagogues in Chicago unless they were trying to target passenger aircraft or unless they were trying to target cargo aircraft. Yemeni students studying English or computers or maybe both English and computers might have been behind the plot but maybe they weren’t.” [27] “If there’s a single substantiated syllable in that entire narrative, I have yet to encounter it in the New York Times. In a series of articles from 29, 30, and 31 October, our newspaper of tarnished record created enough cognitive dissonance to drive the Dalai Lama to a therapist’s couch.”

The New York Times [28] [29] [30] and Wired[31] however, chose to take the story seriously and explained how this method perfectly fits al Qaeda. The UK Guardian told us, “The CIA has thwarted a plot by al-Qaida’s affiliate in Yemen to destroy a US-bound airliner using a bomb with a new design around the one-year anniversary of the killing of Osama bin Laden, according to the Associated Press.” [32] Note the comment about “around the anniversary of bin Laden’s death”. That makes the story much more ominous, even though the detail is irrelevant. Here are a few more for your entertainment, by Al-Jazeera, [33] and the BBC, [34] [35] [36]
