Aanleiding voor de protesten in Hongkong in 2019 was de poging van Carrie Lam om een uitleveringswet tussen Hongkong en het Chinese vasteland erdoor te krijgen. Het is onduidelijk of dit gebeurde op verzoek van Beijing (wat volgens mij het geval was) of op eigen initiatief van Lam, maar de westerse media hebben een paar belangrijke details weg gelaten.

1. Alle naties hebben uitleveringsverdragen tussen staten en provincies. De reden is dat als iemand een misdrijf pleegt in New York en vervolgens naar Virginia vlucht, de politie van New York geen bevoegdheid heeft in die staat en niet zomaar de grens kan oversteken om te zoeken en te arresteren. (b) Een soortgelijk probleem, en misschien wel groter, is dat meer dan een paar inwoners van Hongkong (vaak Amerikanen of Britten, maar ook oorspronkelijke Hongkongers) naar het vasteland zijn gereisd, vrij veel fantasierijke en niet-zo fantasierijke misdrijven hebben gepleegd en vervolgens naar Hongkong zijn teruggevlucht, opnieuw buiten het bereik van de Chinese politie van het vasteland.

The 2019 protests in Hong Kong were triggered by Carrie Lam‘s attempt to pass an extradition bill between Hong Kong and Mainland China. It is unclear if this were done at Beijing’s request (which I believe it was) or at Lam’s own initiative, but the the Western media omitted a few important details.

1. 1. All nations have extradition agreements between states and provinces. The reason is that if someone commits a crime in New York and then runs to Virginia, the NYC police have no authority in that state and cannot simply cross the border to search and arrest. They must rely on local law enforcement for that. Hence, the extradition agreements.
   2. China has several good reasons for wanting such agreements with Hong Kong.

(a) More than a few Mainland Chinese businessmen or government officials have embezzled money, then fled to Hong Kong to live the good life free of repatriation fears. Understandably, China would like those individuals brought back home to stand trial.

(b) A similar problem, and perhaps larger, is that more than a few Hong Kong residents (often American or British, but also native Hongkongese) have travelled to the Mainland, committed fairly large numbers of imaginative and not-so-imaginative crimes, then fled back to Hong Kong, again out of reach of the Mainland Chinese police.

HONG KONG - Hong Kong police arrested two men on Thursday on suspicion of helping two arson suspects flee the city, the authorities said on Friday. 

The two arson suspects allegedly set an elderly man on fire during an anti-government protest stemming from the extradition bill incident in 2019, police said.

The duo arrested on Thursday were aged 39 and 60, respectively, police said. They allegedly bought airline tickets for the two arson suspects to help them leave Hong Kong in November and December 2019

They allegedly bought airline tickets for the two arson suspects to help them leave Hong Kong in November and December 2019, a police representative told reporters on Friday. They were accused of “facilitating offenders”, an offense punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Describing the attack as an “extremely serious and violent” incident in November 2019, a police spokesperson said the elderly man was attacked after he attempted to prevent a black-clad man and his partners from vandalizing the Ma On Shan train station. He was subsequently attacked and set on fire by the black-clad man, police said.

The attacker and one of his accomplices, who was also at the scene of the attack, fled the city with the help of the duo who were arrested on Thursday, according to the police. The two escapees are now wanted by police.

Police have arrested 18 people in relation to the attack and vandalism to the train station. They were arrested on charges of rioting, conspiracy to criminal damage, and misconduct in a public place, police said.

The recent history of Hong Kong doesn’t begin where most Westerners might imagine. It began with the Rothschild’s British East India Company that existed from the early 1700s to nearly 1900, when Rothschild conceived the idea of inflicting opium onto China. The plans had been well-made, with approval from the top. Rothschild had the franchise for growing the opium and David Sassoon received from Queen Victoria herself, the exclusive franchise for distributing the drug in China.

The reason Hong Kong was seized by England, on orders of Queen Victoria, was that Sassoon needed a logistics, warehousing, and distribution base for his opium operations. Similarly, the founding of HSBC, an event requiring permission of the monarch, was for the handling and laundering of Sassoon’s drug money, an expertise in which the bank still specialises today. The standard narrative tells us the HSBC was founded by Scotsman Sir Thomas Sutherland, who wanted a bank operating on “sound Scottish banking principles”, but that’s historical Photoshopping. I don’t know who Sutherland was, but, if he existed at all, he quickly disappeared and his name appears nowhere in a list of directors, executives or officers. The HSBC was never a British or Scottish bank, and it never was and certainly is not now a “Chinese bank”. It was always a Jewish bank and David Sassoon was the Chairman of the Board from its founding. I have copies of the original documents.
